I'm fascinated by the idea of islands as symbols. They are simultaneously a symbol of strength and of vulnerability, for me. The same strength of its disconnection from the land is echoed in it's dependence on it's environment. Water gives power, but it can also be a destructive force. Islands are magical places. All of these pieces were recorded immediately before or after trips to the Island. In my mind, I sought to recreate some of the mystical energy which rejuvenates me on these trips, to capture the sense of peace like mist in a bottle. I'm releasing it today, on what some people consider to be the last day of summer, to help me remember to try retain this sense of harmony and balance.

Colin James Gibson: electric guitar and chord organ.
Art by Alexa Speagle.
All of these pieces were recorded using an exceptionally cheap electric guitar and only the built-in effects on a Korg CR-4 four-track recorder. All sounds were made by electric guitar, with the exception of "Roke" which also uses a broken electric chord organ.
